An accomplished business and financial consultant with more than 30 years of professional accounting experience, Marla DiCarlo is the Co-owner of BizNavigators. As the co-founder and prior CEO and co-owner of Raincatcher, who was named by Inc. Magazine as #1 Business Broker, Best Workplace in 2020, and #376 on Inc. 5000 List in 2021, Marla is a leader in her industry and within the small business community.
Born into a family of entrepreneurs, Marla’s experience spans many different facets of business, including accounting, Fractional CFO, M&A, finance, and management. The Denver Business Journal awarded her 50 out of 100 Top Women-Owned Businesses. She is an accomplished thought leader for small business associations, including Inc., SCORE, SBDC, and the SBA.
Marla sits on the board for Dress for Success of Denver and is active in several groups within the small business community.
From 2000 to 2008, Marla worked as Director of Accounting for an M&A and investment group that specialized in acquiring, capitalizing on, and managing real estate and businesses across various sectors. While there, she was responsible for new business deals, investments, and financing. She has worked with groups like Credit Suisse First Boston, ISS Group, Venture West Group, and Madison Dearborn Partners.
In 2009, Marla started a fractional CFO, accounting, and bookkeeping company, which she eventually sold to a private equity group in 2016.
Marla has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and is married to her husband, David, with two sons and a daughter. Originally from Arizona, she currently lives in Colorado with her family.
As an experienced small business owner with a demonstrated history in sales and public policy, Dave understands what it takes to build a successful business. Skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, negotiation, Microsoft Word, grassroots organizing, and government, Dave can find a win-win when negotiating tough conversations. He is a strong professional versed in many business models and modes.
Dave spent the majority of his career in the wireless industry. He owned and operated two stores in Arizona and eventually moved into a sales manager role with Quest and AT&T. He was awarded President and Gold Top Producer at both companies, as well as the top regional and national sales manager. Dave has formal training in leading teams, sales, and customer service.
Dave left corporate life to pursue his passion for politics, serving as Vice-Chair and District Captain and working for groups such as Americans for Prosperity. Dave has received training that has helped him communicate well, conduct research, analyze matters, and engage in diplomacy.
Dave attended Arizona State University for an advanced degree in Political Science, and is married to his wife, Marla, with two sons and a daughter. Originally from Chicago, he currently lives in Colorado with his family.
Carter brings more than 25 years of experience building, scaling, and exiting venture-backed startups and small to mid-sized businesses. Her career includes leading companies from early concept through product–market fit, executing company turnarounds, managing acquisitions, securing capital across angel, Series A, Series B, acquisition, and IPO stages, and contributing to a successful public-market exit at a $250MM valuation. This hands-on operating experience gives her a practical understanding of what drives enterprise value and buyer demand.
In addition to her work as an operator, Carter has served as an Operating Partner and Entrepreneur in Residence at venture capital firms, advising companies on go-to-market strategy, capitalization, and exit planning. She has also worked with founders through accelerators such as Techstars to prepare businesses for growth and liquidity events.
After experiencing the buy-side firsthand when she and her husband purchased and operated a small business, Carter developed a strong conviction around the importance of well-structured transactions that create positive outcomes for both buyers and sellers. This perspective led her to join BizNavigators as a Business Broker, where she is focused on helping owners navigate the sale process and achieve successful outcomes for all parties.
She holds a BA from the University of Virginia and an MBA and Master’s degree in Communications from the University of Denver. Carter lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and two sons.
Ted comes to BizNavigators with over 35 yrs of business experience, 27 in executive leadership and business ownership. Ted started his career with 19 years in commercial real estate, during which he became the leading producer in Cushman & Wakefield’s Northern California history.
Ted pursued his early passion for entrepreneurship, forming and leading several companies from inception, including in green energy consulting, online gaming, a senior healthcare co. and a fractional sales advisory.
Ted was CEO of those four companies and has been in leadership roles across 5 primary verticals, with direct responsibility for more than 240 reports, from large-cap public companies to 5-person sales teams. He has held the titles of CSO, COO, CEO, VP of Sales, but prefers Partner, Coach, or Friend! He managed national sales for a $90mm Blackstone portco and grew the senior healthcare company from $0 - $1.4mm revenue and from 1 caregiver to over 120 nurses, care practitioners in just under 4 years.
Ted was a founding Board member of the US Green Building Council in 1999 and helped grow it into one of the largest NPOs in the US over 10 years, transforming the way buildings are constructed globally.
Ted holds a B.A. in Political Science from Kenyon College and lives with his two adult sons and amazing wife in Parker, CO. Ted can be found on weekends either serving the Church, playing pickleball with family or watching the beloved Detroit Lions or Michigan Wolverines.
